For the Love of a Pet
We are busy making plans for our annual For the Love of a Pet Dinner and Artisan Auction. Once again our biggest funraiser of the year will be held on Valentine`s Day at the Days Hotel Grand Dakota Lodge. Tickets are now available! If you can`t make the event, you can still show you support by purchasing a raffle ticket or donating items to use for prizes, raffles, silent auction and live auction. Together we can continue to make a difference for the animals that share our community.

Companion Dog Outreach Program
We are very proud of this program. Slick is a rescued dog that came to us with a back leg in multiple fractures. We started an Angel Fund and raised the money to have an orthopedic surgeon repair the fractures. Slick has been in our program for over a year now and has made a name for himself with the job of Companion Dog. He, along with his handler Melissa, make weekly visits to people in nursing homes or to schools for educational events. What a special dog!

Oreo`s Animal Rescue is on Facebook!
We are now on facebook and encourage you to check us out. We have photos of our events and additional information about our organization.

Dickinson Dog Park
We continue to work in cooperation with Parks and Rec to bring a dog park to the city of Dickinson. A new location has been chosen and we hope to make the park a reality in 2010!

DWCRC Dog Program
We are excited about partnering with the Dakota Womens Correctional and Rehab Center. They will take some of our adoptable dogs into a training program and help prepare them for adoption. The program is designed to create an alliance between the inmate and dog. This alliance will promote both unconditional love and responsibility in inmates, while at the same time, providing a service to the community.

SNIP(spay/neuter incentive program)
SNIP is an ongoing community outreach program. Through this program all pet owners can receive a $15 discount on the cost of having their pet spayed or neutered. Be a responsible pet owner, help control the pet over population and get your pet spayed or neutered!

Who We Are

Oreo`s Animal Rescue became a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization in 2005. We do not have a building, but instead work through foster homes and with West Dakota Vet Clinic. We are all volunteers and have NO paid employees. We are an adoption guarantee organization. What this means is no animal in our control is every euthanized unless they are suffering or considered dangerous. We embrace animals with special needs and those that require extra training and love. We do not believe in the process of destroying animals to control the pet over population. We believe a strict spay and neuter policy is the only way to truly impact the number of unwanted animals in our community. It is OAR`s goal to educate our community on the importance of responsible pet ownership. By working together we can make our community a better place for the people and animals who live here.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT: To protect the quality of life and improve the well being of abused, neglected and unwanted animals through prevention, education, intervention, placement and lifelong care.

OREO`S ANIMAL RESCUE is committed to making our community a better place for both people and animals by subscribing to the following objectives: 1) to rescue abandoned/abused pets 2) to nurture, foster, socialize, and find worthy homes once these pets are ready 3) to adhere to a strict spay and neuter policy 4) to assist the Dickinson City Pound in finding homes for unclaimed pets 5) to educate the public on the importance of responsible ownership and population control
